Kerry & Amit were married this past summer in not one, but two beautiful ceremonies at the Sands Point Preserve on Long Island. Their wedding was the celebration and blending of her Irish-Catholic background, and his Indian heritage – complete with a traditional baraat and even some surprise Irish step dancing from the bride and her twin sister! Here are three of my favorites from their day.
The first is a portrait from just before the Hindu ceremony, after the traditional Catholic celebration. The second is a detail shot of Kerry’s hands covered in a beautiful and very intricate henna design. Typically the henna is applied during a colorful and fun celebration the night before the wedding known as the “Mehndi” event. These intricate designs symbolize joy, beauty, spiritual awakening and offering. The third image is a sweet portrait of the couple in their traditional, American wedding outfit. I just love the sweet expression on both of their faces.
Kerry and Amit’s wedding was a day full of joy, beauty and so much spirit! It was also an intense, fifteen hour day of capturing sweet moments. It will always stand out as one of the most unique and special weddings I’ve had the pleasure of capturing.
